Academic Career Achievement Award
Kam Leong, Columbia University for exceptional research and educational contributions in bionanotechnology, drug and gene therapies, gene editing, and regenerative medicine which have made a significant impact on the field.

Early Career Achievement Award
Qi Dou, Chinese University of Hong Kong for groundbreaking work in biomedical image analysis using deep learning has revolutionized radiology image diagnosis and robotic surgery intelligence.

Distinguished Service Award
Yiwen Wang, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for distinguished service in organizing summer schools and workshops, connecting students and scholars impacted by travel restrictions during the pandemic.

Professional Achievement Award
Behrouz Shabestari, the National Institutes of Health for outstanding leadership and pioneering efforts in biomedical imaging and computational intelligence which have advanced the field in addition to mentorship which has nurtured young investigators and paved the way for future breakthroughs.

Technical Achievement Award
Xin Zhang, Boston University for groundbreaking work on metamaterials has revolutionized MRI performance, making it crisper, faster, safer, and more affordable.

William J Morlock Award
YT Zhang, Chinese University of Hong Kong for exceptional contributions to the development of unobtrusive and wearable medical devices, along with your remarkable achievements in their commercialization, which has transformed healthcare monitoring.

EMBS to Launch Women in Biomedical Engineering (WIEMB) at EMBC'23

The launch WIEMB EMBS reinforces EMBS's dedication to promoting gender equality, harnessing diverse perspectives, expanding the talent pool, providing role models and mentorship, and addressing healthcare disparities in biomedical engineering. By empowering and supporting women in the field, EMBS can drive innovation, advance healthcare technologies, and create a more inclusive and equitable future for biomedical engineering.

The innaugural event will open with a morning of keynotes by women of acheivement in medicine, industry and research and will be followed by an afternoon of panel sessions focused on important topics like

Launch of Successful EMBS and National University of Singapore Data Science in Healthcare, Medicine, and Biology  Forum Lays Groundwork for New Special Topic Conference

In June, more than150 students, researchers, clinicians and industry leaders attended IEEE EMBS-NUS Healthtech Forum on DataScience and Engineering in Healthcare Medicine and Biology at National University of Singapore. SAVE THE DATE – Paper Submission Opening Soon for Inaugural EMBS Special Topic Conference on Data Science and Engineering in Healthcare, Medicine, and Biology in 7-9 December 2023 • Malta

After holding successful Data Science and Engineering in Healthcare, Medicine, and Biology forums (Israel, Singapore) EMBS will launch a new special topic conference (SPC) with the same theme. The purpose of the forums and now the SPC is to focus on the ways data science is revolutionizing healthcare and medicine, enabling cutting-edge innovations and improving patient care.  This conference will provide participants with the opportunity to dive into the latest advancements and challenges in data science, focusing on healthcare, medical imaging, personalized medicine, and more! Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the transformative potential of data science in digital health, remote monitoring, preventative medicine, and complex data harmonization. Participants will include scientists, engineers, and students for networking and indepth discussions about translational research and the future of engineering education in healthcare.
