President's Message

image of Vincenzo PiuriDear Member of the IEEE Systems Council Community,

This is still a hard time for everyone around the world due to the pandemic. For some countries the situation is improving, while for others it is still hitting very hard. I hope that you, your families and friends are doing fine. I really hope that the virus will be defeated soon and no more people will suffer. As Systems Council, we are working to support our scientific and professional community to stay on the leading edge of knowledge and profession. Even though we are missing the personal interactions and networking during the meetings in physical presence, we transformed our conferences to virtual events to allow people to share ideas and experiences in our field. We are working to reduce the revision and publication time for faster dissemination of quality knowledge in our publications. We are also working on a new educational program in the area of systems and systems engineering, including tutorials and lectures from distinguished speakers. We are planning for more initiatives to support underserved groups and areas, for example by promoting Chapters and Student Chapters as they are the local roots of our worldwide community.

Please visit our website frequently for detailed information about our activities. Our newsletter will help you to remain updated on our activities as well as other information relevant for our field. Past issues are available on our website

If you have any comments, suggestions, recommendations, or criticisms, please do not hesitate to contact me. Everyone can help continuously improve our technical activities. We aim to continue to have live activities for our live community. With you, we strive to serve our community. Join us to make the difference in the world!

Looking forward to working with you for the benefit of our scientific and professional community and the entire humanity!

Ciao, Vin

Vincenzo Piuri
President, IEEE Systems Council

Journal on Miniaturization for Air and Space Systems (J-MASS)

The IEEE Journal on Miniaturization for Air and Space Systems (J-MASS) is a new technical journal devoted to covering the rapidly evolving field of small air and space systems such as drones and small satellites. These platforms offer new, low-cost ways to accomplish a wide range of sensing functions for applications ranging from agriculture to land use and ocean surveys.

In June 2020, J-MASS published its very first issue covering topics that ranged from the development and use of miniaturized platforms such as drones and CubeSats. Manuscripts must be submitted through Manuscript Central and should be original work within this scope. Manuscripts submitted to this journal must not have been published before and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

For more information, please visit our website or contact Antonio Plaza.
