IEEE Industry Applications Magazine – Digital Edition!

The IEEE IAS Board has approved the addition of a NEW Digital Edition of IEEE Industry Applications Magazine. Beginning with this issue of the monthly IAS e-Newsletter, the Magazine Digital Edition will be available from a link at the end of every e-Newsletter issue. IAS members previously had access via a “Get Entire Issue Now” link from IEEE Xplore, but this was just a static flat PDF. The NEW Digital Edition includes navigation to selected articles from a Table of Contents Sidebar, a page turning feature, Zoom and download of individual articles, email authentication, access to back issues from the Home page and much more. We hope you test-drive the new Magazine Digital Edition.

WIE APEC Report

APEC 2026 took place 22-26 March 2026, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio

The APEC 2026 highlighted not only technical innovation but also the strength of its community through impactful Women in Engineering (WIE) events. The WiE Breakfast Event, co‑organized by the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS), Power Electronics Society (PELS), and PSMA WIE committees, featured a keynote by Seema Bakshi titled “From Doubt to Drive: Career Confidence for a Fast-Changing World.” Her talk addressed common internal challenges such as self‑doubt and fear, offering practical strategies centered on persistence, mentorship, and breaking long‑term goals into achievable steps. The session was well received by attendees and also included recognition of the inaugural APEC WIE Travel Grant recipients, selected to support students and young professionals and to broaden participation across the global engineering community.

Building on this momentum, the first‑time WIE Networking Event in the Expo Hall provided an inclusive forum for students, early‑career professionals, and senior engineers to connect across disciplines. The informal setting encouraged open dialogue on career development, leadership, and personal growth, reinforcing the role of engagement and collaboration in building strong professional networks. Collectively, the APEC 2026 WIE activities aligned closely with IAS’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the professional development of engineers at every career stage.
