IAS Reaches New Membership Milestone!

According to the IEEE October 2025 membership report, the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) has officially surpassed 20,000 members worldwide. This achievement makes IAS the sixth largest society within IEEE—a remarkable milestone that reflects the dedication of our volunteers, staff, and community.

This growth has been fueled by a variety of strategic initiatives, including:

Expanded chapter formation across regions
Regional meetings, some held in conjunction with IAS Board sessions
Modernized branding, including an updated IAS logo following a marketing environmental scan
Enhanced social media presence to connect with members globally
Conference and promotional outreach, strengthening IAS visibility through websites, ads, and events
IAS Ambassador Program, offering a plug-and-play presentation to introduce IAS to new audiences
Redesigned membership brochure for easier distribution and local printing
Increased engagement with students, Women in Engineering (WIE), and Young Professionals (YP)

Telecommunication Union, this global initiative invites innovators to develop generative AI solutions tackling real-world challenges: advancing public health in The Gambia, agriculture in Lesotho, and climate resilience in Bangladesh.

The IEEE IAS continues to empower students and professionals globally! Members represented our section and chapter at major international conferences:

The PAC 2025 in Africa provided a first-time international travel opportunity and was a profound cultural exchange, strengthening commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
The COBEP 2025 in Brazil saw one of our IAS Liaisons actively presenting two conference papers (one related to a master's thesis and another a subsequent PhD study), participating in key panel discussions, and forging stronger ties with other IEEE society members (IES, PELS, IAS).

Both events underscored the vital role of IAS support in advancing research and professional careers.

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine – NEW Digital Edition!

The IEEE IAS Board has approved the addition of a NEW Digital Edition of IEEE Industry Applications Magazine. Beginning with this issue of the monthly IAS e-Newsletter, the Magazine Digital Edition will be available from a link at the end of every e-Newsletter issue. IAS members previously had access via a “Get Entire Issue Now” link from IEEE Xplore, but this was just a static flat PDF. The NEW Digital Edition includes navigation to selected articles from a Table of Contents Sidebar, a page turning feature, Zoom and download of individual articles, email authentication, access to back issues from the Home page and much more. We hope you test-drive the new Magazine Digital Edition.

Join the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council (TEC)

As a member of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, there is no fee to join the council.

TEC focuses on technologies, organizations and projects enable the clean, connected and efficient transportation and vehicular systems of the future. Discussions include electric and hybrid cars and trucks, more-electric aircraft, electric rail and light rail systems, electric ships, off-road vehicles, grid interfaces and other forms of more-electric transportation.

The council discusses key enabling technologies, including batteries and energy storage, battery charging and management, power electronics, electric motors and drives, networked vehicles, fuel cells, wireless power transfer, and system integration. The council takes a leadership role in vehicle to grid (V2G) and grid interaction issues, IEEE standards in transportation and vehicles, high performance electric traction, student electric transportation competitions, and vehicle intelligence.

We are sponsored by nine IEEE Societies, one IEEE Council, and the IEEE Standards Association.
