Constitution Update

The IAS Executive Board has recommended changes to the
IAS Constitution for approval at the upcoming IAS Council meeting in
September. There are changes required by IEEE Board to maintain
consistency in the language used to describe which members are eligible
for certain Society Officer and Executive Board roles, and a change to the
language on meetings processes that aligns with current IEEE processes.
In accordance with IAS Bylaws, the  proposed draft constitution with
tracked changes is available on the IAS website. This notification of
upcoming changes is to permit members an expression of opinion directly
or through their representatives on the Council.

IAS Council membership consists of the Society Executive Board and all
Society Past Presidents (who are members of the Institute), Department
officers of the Technical and Operating Departments, Technical Committee

and Standing Committee Chairs of the Technical Departments, Area
Chairs of the Chapters Department, and Committee Chairs of the
Operating Departments and Editors-in-Chief of IEEE publications in which
the IA Society has a 1/2 or larger financial interest.
