Congratulations to the Class of 2025 IEEE IAS

Fellow Members

IEEE Bylaw I-104.11 stipulates “The grade of Fellow recognizes unusual distinction in the profession and shall be conferred by the Board of Directors upon a person with an outstanding record of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest.

The accomplishments that are being honored shall have contributed importantly to the advancement or application of engineering, science, and technology, bringing the realization of significant value to society.” The total number of recognized recipients each year cannot exceed 0.1% of the total higher-grade membership, ensuring the exceptional status of becoming an IEEE Fellow. In November 2024, the IEEE Board of Directors approved this year’s IEEE Fellows. The following IAS members were recently elevated in the Class of 2025 IEEE Fellows:

I&CPS Technical Conference 2025

This is the 61st annual IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems (I&CPS) Technical Conference. The Conference reflects the activities of the I&CPS Department of the Industry Applications Society (IAS) of the IEEE. Over its 61 year history, the conference has been the forum bringing together IAS’ experienced engineers and our younger engineers. Many aspects of Industrial & Commercial Power Systems are presented and discussed in relevant papers and industry presentations sponsored by one of the four I&CPS Department Committees participating in this conference (Rural Committee has a separate technical conference). Young professionals (undergraduate, MSc, PhD students and entrant engineers) are encouraged to participate and present their work in a friendly international environment, to enjoy the beauty of Budapest and to make new connections for the future, as well as celebrating the 10th edition of the conference. Contributions are welcome from any field related to energy and power engineering. Accepted papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore subject to meeting IEEE Xplore’s scope and quality requirements. IYCE is a Student-led Technical Conference, member of the IEEE IAS YP Student-led Conferences.

Deadline Approaching: IEEE SDEMPED 2025

Call for Papers

The 15th Edition of the IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Drives (SDEMPED2025), is being held 24-27 August 2025 in Dallas, Texas, USA.

This will be the 15th edition of this event since the first SDEMPED was established as the only international symposium entirely devoted to the diagnostics of electrical machines, power electronics and drives. Submissions are now being accepted for conference papers, tutorials and special sessions.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Electrical Machines and Drives, Power Electronics and Components, Algorithms, and Systems and Applications.

IEEE SDEMPED Important Dates:

Manuscript Submission Deadline: 31 March 2025
Final Acceptance Notification: 18 May 2025
Final Paper Submissions: 15 June 2025

Virtual Event: Creating Impactful Community Service Learning Projects

7 APRIL 2025

Register for our 7th April virtual event to hear from EPICS in IEEE project leaders about creating impactful engineering projects to solve local community challenges and preparing for the grant application process. Registration

Please email to [email protected] for expression of interest (EOI) before March 15, 2025. Please use “ECCE2026 Logo in EOI” as the email subject and include your names and IEEE Member No. in the EOI email.

Instruction

The only acceptable submission format is .ai. So having access to Adobe Illustrator would be necessary for the logo design. Detailed instructions and source files of the ECCE logo will be provided to registered participants in the middle of March 2025.

Important date

15 March, 2025 — Expression of interest from the design team

1 May, 2025 — Logo design submission

15 June, 2025 — ECCE2026 logo selection by ECCE Executive Committee

October 2025 — ECCE2026 Logo Design Award presented at ECCE 2025 in Philadelphia, a US$100 Cash Award and a Certificate will be awarded to the winner!

Next Publications

Call for IAS Related Services-Learning Projects that Benefit Humanity

Students, faculty, and professionals will have the opportunity to address the technological needs of communities. Proposals should identify a problem in the local community, and detail how the student team will attempt to solve the problem using engineering and technology skills.

EPICS in IEEE has partnered with the Industry Application Society (IAS) to support service-learning projects that align with the mission and vision of IAS.

Projects should include the design, development, and application of safe, sustainable, reliable, smart electrical systems, equipment and services. IAS has provided 65K to fund projects that engage IAS student and professional members. At least one member of the team needs to be an IAS member.

Join the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council (TEC)

As a member of the IEEE Industry Applications Society, there is no fee to join the council.

TEC focuses on technologies, organizations and projects enable the clean, connected and efficient transportation and vehicular systems of the future. Discussions include electric and hybrid cars and trucks, more-electric aircraft, electric rail and light rail systems, electric ships, off-road vehicles, grid interfaces and other forms of more-electric transportation.

The council discusses key enabling technologies, including batteries and energy storage, battery charging and management, power electronics, electric motors and drives, networked vehicles, fuel cells, wireless power transfer, and system integration. The council takes a leadership role in vehicle to grid (V2G) and grid interaction issues, IEEE standards in transportation and vehicles, high performance electric traction, student electric transportation competitions, and vehicle intelligence.
