U.S. IEEE Members Elect Tim Lee
to Serve as 2025 IEEE-USA President

Congratulations to Tim Lee, who U.S. IEEE members have selected to serve as IEEE-USA president-elect in 2024. Lee will begin his term as president on 1 January 2025, succeeding 2024 IEEE-USA President Keith Moore. We would like to also express our sincere appreciation to president-elect candidate Jim Look, who has devoted significant time and energy to helping U.S. IEEE members in a number of key volunteer roles over the years.

Congratulations also to Kathleen Kramer, who was elected as 2024 IEEE President-Elect, and to our new 2024-2025 Region Directors-Elect:

IEEE-USA Designing Chips with CHIPS:
West Coast Pre-Silicon Summit

The CHIPS Act will have a profound impact on manufacturing in the United States, but what about chip design & packaging? The Designing Chips with CHIPS: West Coast Pre-Silicon Summit is a one-day semi summit that will bring together leading thinkers from chip design and packaging companies, along with government policy makers, to discuss the chip design industry in light of the historic CHIPS Act. Held in-person on Qualcomm’s main campus in San Diego on 3 November 2023, this event will look at the CHIPS Act from the specific perspective of design firms and packaging companies, with a special focus on the west coast. IEEE-USA is seeking qualified U.S. IEEE members to spend a year in Washington working as advisers to the U.S. Congress and to the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The fellowship program gives U.S. IEEE members an opportunity to learn firsthand about the public policy process, while imparting their knowledge and experience to policymakers. The deadline to apply for 2024-2025 Fellowships is Friday, 8 December 2023 at 12:00 PM ET.

NCEES PE Electrical and Computer Engineering Survey 2023/2024

NCEES is seeking electrical and computer engineers to participate in a professional activities and knowledge study, or PAKS, for the PE Electrical and Computer Engineering exams. The results of this online survey will be used to update the content of the PE exams, which is a process that occurs every six to eight years.

NCEES requires a cross section of licensed professional engineers practicing electrical and computer engineering — including those working in industry, consulting, the public sector, and academia — to complete the survey. If you are a licensed professional engineer, we would appreciate your input. The survey can be completed in about 20–40 minutes. The survey will be open until 11 January 2024.
