The first IEEE IES Day events were held on a four-week period from 11 November to 6 December 2024. 23 events celebrated IES and engaged our community all over the world. Click to discover the winners of the photo and video contests.

The focus of the course is on the advanced Transmission System Operator (TSO)-maintained electrical grid featuring high-voltage (HV) ratings and HVDC (high-voltage direct current) connections. It explores the unique challenges and opportunities of integrating HVDC technology, including design aspects of power electronic converters, system control with high renewable energy penetration, and modern protection schemes.

The 2025 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics will be held from 28 February to 2 March 2025 at the University of Wollongong (UOW) in Wollongong, NSW, Australia. ICM’25 is a flagship biennial conference sponsored by the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.

PESGRE 2025 will be held on 18-21 December 2025 in IIT Dharwad, India. The theme of this 4th biennial conference, technically co-sponsored by IEEE IES, is “Power Electronics and Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development."

In this paper, existing digital twin techniques for power-electronics-based energy conversion systems are reviewed. The basic hierarchical structure and key technologies of digital twin are emphasized. Particularly, digital twins for power-electronics-based energy conversion systems are investigated from a complete life-cycle perspective.

This paper demonstrates how the interoperability provisions developed by the Open Process Automation Standard (OPAS) can be used to improve the interchangeability and interoperability of controller function blocks in cascade control and to enable easier integration of IIoT devices into process automation application.

Recently, resilient and privacy-preserving distributed cooperative control and optimization have become focal topics in networks of autonomous agents due to the risks of cyber-attacks and privacy leakage.
