In this talk, the advantages of using modular converters in a wide range of power applications are introduced. In addition, the operation of these converters with an eye on the thermal behaviour by applying advanced active thermal control methods is addressed. It will be shown that it is possible to smartly manage the remaining useful lifetime of each power cell of the modular structure to reduce the corresponding maintenance cost. However, the application of such methods leads to creating negative collateral effects that could mitigate the achieved advantages. These negative effects can be mitigated by applying advanced modulation methods based on modifying well-known techniques such as phase-shifted modulation and interleaved operation. The webinar aims presenting a methodology for accounting change in performance with effect of press and shrink fitting of stator housings. The implementation is computationally more efficient to perform in a finite element environment. A measurement setup is also discussed to account the effect of compressive stress and thereby, modifying the iron loss model. Eventually, the overall impact of compressive stress of machine performance and over important drive cycle will be discussed.

Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) in rotating electrical machines for automotive are crucial for motor design. Stator teeth induce core deformation, leading to vibrations and noise. Mitigating NVH optimizes design iterations, reducing time-to-prototype. A webinar will introduce a novel FEA method for force harmonics extraction and assess asymmetrical geometries' NVH improvement potential. JMAG will be showcased for electromagnetic simulations.
