A Message from Mariusz Malinowski, President of the Industrial Electronics Society

I completed the two-year term of my presidency at the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. This time has passed quickly, but it has been a time of tremendous experience and challenges, especially after a pandemic that caused a lot of disruption to the association. We have had to rebuild a return to normalcy over the past two years. However, we retained some excellent practices developed during the pandemic, such as standing committee meetings held remotely at least a month before AdCom. As a result, more people were included, we avoided quorum problems, and we could devote the time just before the AdCom itself to strategic discussions for the Industrial Electronics Society.
I want to emphasize that I have always felt during the past two years a lot of support from all members, who, through active and constructive discussions, a good and friendly atmosphere, have always made me proud to be in this group. With such people, we can confidently look to the future of IES. The near future for us is the 50th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society in Chicago (3-6 November 2024), which will be unique because it will be the 50th IECON! Yes, yes, an incredible half-century. Let's all get together in Chicago because we want to celebrate this unique event for IES through special events.
Dr. Antonio Luque, our IES Vice President for Membership Activities, has been recently elected by the IEEE Assembly as IEEE Vice President-Elect for Membership and Geographic Activities (MGA) in 2024! We look forward to his contribution to Inspire, Enable, Empower and Engage Members of the IEEE!
Professor Qing-Long Han, IES TII Co-Editor-in-Chief, has been named an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia, for his exceptional contributions to the engineering profession and the Australian community. Congratulations to him!
In the IES family, we call him Olek. It was a pleasure to interview Aleksander Malinowski, our IES treasurer. His long and rich experience within the IES shows that you don’t have to follow a typical research career in a big university to have a real impact on our society.
The Industrial Electronics Society was among the 14 founding members of the IEEE Sensors Council in 1998. Thilo Sauter recently organized the flagship conference SENSORS 2023 where IES President Mariusz Malinowski gave a speech highlighting the tight relationship between IES and the Sensors Council.
ICEM 2024, the 26th and 50th-anniversary edition of the reference International Conference for Electrical Machines specialists from industry and academia, will take place on campus at Politecnico di Torino, in Turin, Italy, 1-4 September 2024.
The 29th IEEE Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation, will be held in Padova, Italy, 10-13 September 2024. ETFA is one of IES flagship conferences focusing on the latest developments and new technologies in the field of industrial and factory automation.
This paper introduces an innovative two-frequency design for an impedance-compressing matching network (ICMN), enhancing the performance of power amplifiers in systems like plasma drives and wireless power transfers by adapting to varying load impedances without relying on mechanical tuning.

From highly efficient buildings to more electric aircraft, the dual-active bridge (DAB) converter has been seen as the main enabling technology for the electrification of modern applications. This webinar dives deep into oriented designs for these new applications, where are needed more efficient solutions, reliable, cost-effective, and effectively ready for new challenges.
