CHAIR'S MESSAGE
A Message from IEEE WIE Chair 2021, Jen Castillo

Dear IEEE WIE members and volunteers,

I do not think I can communicate a short message that gives justice to everything that is happening in WIE, but I will try and highlight some events of the last four months. I would like to start by sharing with you that in the remaining issues of the WIE newsletters I will be introducing a special guest, that will share with us why they are engaged with the WIE community. These guests are WIE committee volunteers that are giving their time to make IEEE WIE better every day, and I am happy for you to meet them. Read more

IT'S A CELEBRATION!
IEEE WIE Celebrating 25 Years In 2022

2022 will mark the 25th anniversary of IEEE Women in Engineering and we are planning a full year of celebrations and key moments to reflect on the great progress and achievement made by great women in STEM within the IEEE. We also plan to celebrate the great men who consistently support these women along the way. The WIE 25th anniversary Sub-committee is ready to announce the portfolio of activities which will start with concerted reflections by the past and current WIE chairs, who have led the Committee since its formation in 1997, with a special interview session this year.

Another key event will involve the participation of WIE scientists and innovators who will have an opportunity to showcase their work and compete to present it in a dedicated session at the 2022 IEEE WIE International Leadership Conference (ILC). Also, to be noted a special 25th anniversary virtual seminar series with “Extraordinary Science by Extraordinary Women” from IEEE Societies which will kick-off in January 2022. This sample of event is far from being exhaustive. Each society and Affinity Group in all regions will have celebratory events. The award winning IEEE Women in Engineering Magazine will highlight all the anniversary activities in December 2022.
