Use technology to generate social impact in your community! Join the IEEE Tech4Good Challenge: Andean Council and win up to US$10,000 to develop your project.
The IEEE Tech4Good Challenge: Andean Council is a competition for student teams of 3-4 from Student Branches in the Andean Council, working with a university professor. Teams will develop projects in their local communities, focusing on three main topics:
- Water access and management
- Natural disaster monitoring and survival communication networks
- Renewable energy systems for rural or temporary housing with poor access or intermittent service

Announcing a new funding opportunity from the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) and Tech4Good: Communication for All. This call for proposals is offered to ComSoc members who will apply their unique skills to bring the internet to those who need it most. The local connectivity projects should include specific social impact goals aligned with the themes:
Projects must have a connection to the local ComSoc Chapter and teams must have the relevant technical and other expertise to credibly execute the project. Be sure to submit your letter of intent (a shortened initial application form) by the 30 June extended deadline.

Announcing the IEEE EDS & Tech4Good Call for Proposals

EDS Chapters and Members are invited to submit a project proposal to an exciting funding opportunity from the IEEE Electron Devices Society and Tech4Good. This collaborative call for proposals is a unique opportunity for EDS members to use their skillset and expertise to apply technology for social impact.
Projects must focus on people first, rather than starting with a particular technology that needs to find a use. Teams can apply for US$2,500 to US$10,000 to implement their project related to:
- Agricultural technology (SDG 2: Zero Hunger) - e.g., provide small farmers access to market information and services
- Clean water technology (SDG 6: Clean Water & Sanitation) - e.g., provide communities with access to potable water or implement smart sanitation systems
- Affordable and clean energy (SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy) - e.g., connectivity infrastructure and sensors to deploy and enable clean energy systems

Region 8 Tech4Good Call For Proposals

IEEE Region 8 and IEEE Tech4Good (T4G) are partnering to conduct a collaborative call for proposals to support SIGHT Groups (and prospective SIGHT Groups) in Region 8 who would like to address local community challenges.
The IEEE Region 8 Humanitarian Technology Activities Committee (R8 HTAC) takes a futurist approach aiding the development of innovative methods to support underserved communities within the region in addressing needs to improve livelihood. The core aim of this call for proposals is to support SIGHT Groups in the region with great initiatives and creative technological solutions for local communities. Proposed solutions must have a sustainability plan in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and take into account cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, trust-enhancement, relevance to users and community, community buy-in, and accessibility.

Opportunity to Join the IEEE Tech4Good Reviewer Team

The Tech4Good call for proposals received nearly 330 submissions this year! Even though the deadline for submitting a proposal has passed, you can still get involved with the program by reviewing first round submissions to determine if they are strong candidates for funding. Those interested can watch or read the reviewer training and then complete the 2025 HTB Subcommittee Member Application to sign up. Reviewers must be IEEE members and may not be undergraduate students.

Attend a Humanitarian Technology Conference

- The 2025 IEEE International Humanitarian Technology Conference (IHTC) is an interdisciplinary conference series organized by IEEE Region 7, Region 8, and Region 9. IHTC 2025 will be hosted at the University of Alberta, Canada from 13 - 15 August.
- IEEE R10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (HTC2025) will be held at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan, from 29 September to 01 October. With the theme “Beyond SDGs – A New Humanitarian Era with Intelligent Partners,” the conference aims to underscore society’s rising expectations for humanitarian technologies to deliver practical, enduring solutions.
- The 15th IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC 2025) is a flagship, international conference sharing effective approaches, best practices, and practical and/or scholarly technology-enabled interventions that address the needs of underserved and marginalized communities around the world. This year GHTC 2025 will highlight and explore “Technologies in Context” as its annual theme. The conference will be hosted at the Colorado School of Mines, USA from 22 - 25 October.
