PEPQA 2019

The 4th International IEEE Workshop on Power Electronics and Power Quality Applications was held on 29-31 May 2019 for the first time at Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Manizales, Campus La Nubia in Manizales, Caldas, Colombia. This IEEE – IAS Student Branch from Universidad Nacional de Colombia Sede Manizales, IEEE – IAS Student Branch from Universidad de los Andes and by the IEEE – IAS Colombia Chapter organized the Workshop. PEPQA 2019 was co-sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Industry Application Society, and IEEE Colombia Section.

PEPQA 2019 provided a space for students, academics, and industry professionals to collaborate on meeting the ever-increasing power electronics and power quality challenges in the Latin America region. This Workshop allowed PEPQA to be an open space for professionals, students, and researches to present their work and share experiences. In this Workshop, a total of 141 attendees shared experience on professional interests related to power quality and power electronic industrial applications. In this version of our event, we had eight paper sessions, two tutorials, four international keynotes, and two special sessions from international experts in industry applications. Among the six international Keynotes present Prof. Dr-Ing. Joachim Holtz IEEE Life Fellow, Prof. Dr-Ing. Mauricio Aredes IEEE Senior Member, Ing. Manuel Madrigal Ph.D. IEEE Senior Member, Ing. Elmer Sorrentino Ph.D., Ing. Miguel Aldrete, and Ing. James Mercier IEEE Life Member.

Keynotes of PEPQA offered a discussion on the need to produce and deliver high-quality electrical energy through the improvements of power electronics and to design from a power quality perspective, aiming to close the gap between technology and research from an industrial application point of view.

For last, attendants enjoyed the Colombian coffee culture through different artistic events. From PEPQA 2019 Executive Committee we extend to each contributor of PEPQA 2019 our thanks.
