IAS President Visits Xi-an Jiaotong University - China


IAS President Prof. Georges Zissis was invited to participate, as invited personality, on July 23rd, to the inauguration of the new Campus of Xi'an Jiaotong University (PR. China) which is among the top-10 Chinese Universities.

Jiaotong University was founded 120-years ago and relocated to Xi’an for 60 years now. The university counts for 40,346 full-time students and 3,081 full-time teachers; it is divided into 10 major categories of disciplines including electrical engineering and 9 university colleges for undergraduates.

This new campus, known as “Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor,” covers a surface of 333 hectares is issued from a state project undertaken by the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi Province Government initiated in 2015. It combines the concept of a “garden city” with research and teaching facilities, allying that way technology, services and quality-of-life.

At this occasion President Zissis greeted the participants in the name of IAS and met local and regional officials (the secretary general of the Shaanxi province, the president of Jiaotong University…) and open the way for closer collaboration between our society and Jiaotong University.
