The IEEE East Ukraine Joint Chapter was founded in April 1995 in Kharkiv, Ukraine, as the first IEEE AP-S Chapter in the Former Soviet Union by the initiative of 16 founder members. Currently, it numbers 72 IEEE members (most of them located in Kharkiv, but also from Dnipro, Donetsk, Kyiv, Odesa, and Zaporizhya) and has 6 parent Societies: AP-S, MTT-S, ED-S, AES-S, GRS-S, and NPS-S, being one of the largest in Ukraine. Besides Four Chapter Committee Cembers, Chairperson, Vice-chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, this year we have established two positions for Chapter representatives in Young Professionals and Women in Microwaves.

Every year, our chapter is actively involved in organization of various IEEE conferences and events. In 2018, we co-organized and co-sponsored the following IEEE events:

The 38th IEEE International Conference on Electronics and Nanotechnology (ELNANO-2018). It was held on 24-26 April, 2018, at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” in Kyiv, Ukraine. Among other chapters, the IEEE Ukraine Section (East) AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS Societies Joint Chapter was one of the main sponsors.

The 2018 IEEE 17th International Conference on Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory (MMET-2018), Kyiv, Ukraine, 2-5 July 2018. It is a traditional forum in Ukraine held since 1990. For many years, our section has been its main organizer and sponsor. MMET is famous as an efficient interface between the Ukrainian and Western scientists and engineers in the broad area of modeling and simulation of electromagnetic fields including wave propa- State Aviation Museum tour during MMET*2018

gation, radiation, scattering, guidance, processing, etc. A characteristic feature of MMET is a stronger emphasis on the analytical and mathematical aspects of research into Electromagnetics. The Conference was hosted by National Aviation University in Kyiv. It gathered together over 80 scientists, engineers, and invited speakers from all over the world: USA, Germany, China, Taiwan, France, Estonia, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, and Ukraine.

Last year our Chapter also hosted two seminars with foreign Invited Speakers: Prof. N. Klein, Head of Electromagnetic Nanomaterials group at the Imperial College London, UK, and Prof. Toshio Iguchi (IEEE GRS-S Distinguished Lecturer), National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan.

In addition, several times a year our Chapter holds technical meetings with the themed presentations at the Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics NASU in Kharkiv. These meetings cover multiple topics concerning all aspects of engineering, theoretical and experimental physics, electron devices, semiconductors, etc.

Every year chapter team carries on a tradition to encourage Ukrainian IEEE members with the awarding ceremony for publication in the IEEE Journals related to the Chapter parent Societies (AP/MTT/ED/AES/GRS/NPS). In 2018, there were 13 Ukrainian teams of contributors whose papers were published in IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, etc. Every team received an IEEE Publication Chapter Encouragement Award and a small present from the chapter.
