About the Expo
The EPICS Expo is an event showcasing student-led, technological solutions-based projects designed by San José State University (SJSU) and Santa Clara University (SCU) engineering labs.

You will have a unique opportunity to meet and speak one-on-one with passionate engineering students from both universities who are developing technological solutions to improve communities. The students, via poster session, will display their projects and share their innovative ideas on how to engineer a better tomorrow. Many of these student-led projects are designed to provide engineering solutions to solve local community challenges in San José and Santa Clara.

Starting at 5pm, you'll have the opportunity to interact with student teams at our open house. The formal program with presentations by our featured speakers will begin at 6:30pm.

About EPICS at San José State University

The Engineering Projects in Community Service program, known as EPICS, is a national award-winning social entrepreneurship program. Teams design, build, and deploy systems to solve engineering-based problems for charities, schools, and other not-for-profit organizations. Our students aren’t waiting to graduate to make a difference—they are tackling real-world problems today.

EPICS@SJSU is a service-learning program in the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering at SJSU. Multidisciplinary teams of students serve local community partners by designing and building custom engineering solutions. Previous projects include creating an underwater drone used to study fish habitats and building low-cost advance-detection flood sensors following the 2017 Coyote Creek flood.

About Santa Clara University and the Frugal Innovation Hub

Sponsored by the School of Engineering, the Frugal Innovation Hub (FIH) mission is to engage students and faculty in humanitarian and sustainable projects through partnerships and programs.

FIH acts as a liaison between engineering students, faculty, and organizations to solve humanitarian problems while ensuring that deliverables are met.
